“We need a national conversation about race.”

Um, NO WE DON’T, especially when such talk is only used as a means to beat up on a group of people for whom the only retribution demanded is eventually MORE racism, but in the other direction. This becomes an even louder HELL NO when the referees in such dialogue include Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

Enough already!!

Just live your lives in the way that Dr. King described in his 1963 Dream speech. Or not. Your life, your choice, and everything else will come out in the wash. The only caveat is that you are only guaranteed equal opportunities, not equal outcomes.

I thought he solved the sex-with-step-grandchild problem; and by solve, I mean married her.

This has totally ruined Morgan Freeman for me.

Stupid political things that everyone needs to shut up about: whatever the hell people in NYC want to build in NYC and crazy white ladies using the n-word.

Sure. As long as we're talking about the human race. Morgan Freeman's interview below doesn't go far enough, in my opinion. If you want to fundamentally alter peoples attitudes about 'race', don't make someone a different race because of the region their ancestors grew up in.

It makes me sad that my hippie friends of some 40 years ago, when we never noticed differences in any sense that it would matter back then, are now mostly all 'progressive' in the sense that all of a sudden the "differences" are front and center, and used as a weapon to attack the other side for I don't know what, disagreeing about other issues? That's not right.

Why can't we just disagree on, for example, economic issues without accusing or being accused of something so unrelated as where your ancesors were from?

We can't disagree on economic issues because the political discourse is stupid right now. It is pretty difficult to have a discussion with anyone who has sufficient information on what they are talking about because it turns out that educating the public is much less profitable for the press than discussing Lady Gaga.

The more specific information comes from niche sources, but even those niche sources are lying to us.

The other day, I asked my husband when our television news people decided that the former-Iraqi Minister of Information was their role model.

It's deluded to think that ignoring something will make it better. Unfortunately, many people (and this seems quite prevelant in the USA) are only interested in their own welfare and see anything that work's to the advantage of someone else as, de facto being against them. The leftist side seems committed to the fiction that all outcomes must be equal and the rightist side is wedded to the fiction that there is equal opportunity for all. The root of the Black and White problem is the USer's tendency to see things in black and white.

The root of the Black and White problem is the USer's tendency to see things in black and white.

Hence, the need to stop looking at things in terms of black and white.

I am not saying that we can't talk about things, but what I am saying is that too much is being made of things that CAN'T be changed. Human nature is human nature, and that too much time is being spent pointing out the obvious. I would rather spend more time fixing what can be fixed, and learning to live with what can't be fixed.

I wish people would quit (Re: Jesse Jackson (Who was there when Dr. King was shot) and Al Sharpton) would quit perverting Dr. King's speech and meanings.

What's up?
